Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Cosmetics company Avon has announced plans to cut 104 jobs from its distribution centre in Corby, Northamptonshire. According to the company, the cuts are a result of improved technology meaning that fewer workers are required. The company will be introducing 24 hour working as part of the restructure and a new extension which houses some of the new technology will be live at the end of September 2018. The job cuts are expected to be complete by the end of 2018.
