European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The French news agency, Agence France-Presse (AFP), has announced a transformation plan that will lead to cut 160 positions and to recruit 35 employees by 2021. The net job reduction will be 125 positions, wich represent about 5 per cent of the workforce. The agency has its headquarter in Paris, where a large part of the job cuts will happen but positions will also be cut in 150 countries. The job cuts would be achieved by not replacing 160 employees expected to retire over the next five years (out of a total of 259 employees who will reach 65 years old by 2023). Out of the total of 125 job losses, 85 will affect technical and administrative jobs and 40 journalist positions. Management said the transformation plan was needed to reverse rising costs.
