Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Producer of glass moulds UniMould, a subsidiary of Ardagh Group, has announced that it will close down its factory in Pieńsk. As a result, all 230 employees will be dismissed through a collective dismissal programme which will be carried out by the end of 2018. The source reports that redundant employees will receive severance pay.
UniMould has production facilities in three locations, Germany, Poland and the UK, employing over 300 people. The company has been operating for over 60 years; it specializes in the production of moulds, associated equipment and accessories for the glass packaging industry.
