Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Ministry of Labour has announced to cut 800 positions within Pôle Emploi, the Public employment service. Pôle Emploi currently employs 50,000 people and has already cut 297 positions in 2018. The Ministry of Labour estimates that the job cuts are justified by the decrease of the number of the unemployed. It also has to cope with a reduction of its budget, from €15,2 billion in 2018 to €13,1 billion in 2019, decided by the goverment.
Previously, job cuts were recorded 2010 (1,800 job reductions), and also two waves of recruitment in 2012 (2,000 job creations) and in 2013 (2,000 job creations).
