Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Oxford BioMedica, a gene therapy business, has announced that it is to create 100 new jobs after signing a lease on new premises. The business has taken over a former Royal Mail sorting office on a 15 year lease and will tranform the site adding warehouse and laboratories. The jobs will be added over a two year period, with the first jobs expected to be filled when the warehouse and new offices are ready, which is expected to be sometime in the first quarter of 2019. When all the jobs are filled the headcount will be around 500 staff.
