Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Viskase France, a company specialised in the manufacture and distribution of cellulosic casings and plastic films for the food industry, has announced the 92 job cuts out of a total workforce of 275 employees in its site at Thaon-les-Vosges (Vosges). The management has presented to the Central Works Council an employment safeguard plan, which will affect about a third of the workforce. The reorganisation will lead to the transfer of part of the activity to Poland, where the labour costs are much cheaper. The employees have stopped their work immedialty after the announcement.
