Description
Roberto Abate, a company operating diverse supermarket brands in several Sicilian provinces, announced it will proceed with the dismissal of 175 workers in the provinces of Catania, Enna, Messina and Siracusa.
The decision is due to the difficult economic situation suffered by the company as a consequence of the shrinking purchasing power experienced by the local population over the last years and the aggressive price policies undertaken by competing international supermarket chains.
Trade unions asked to start negotiations for reducing the occupational impact and urged local institutions to intervene.
