Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Polish chain Empik (Elektronika Muzyka Prasa i Książki), which sells books, press and media products, has announced that it will create about 100 new jobs in 2019. The company plans to expand employment in two departments: e-commerce and IT.
Empik was founded in 1948 during Poland’s communist period as KMPiK (Klub Międzynarodowej Prasy i Książki/ International Press and Book Club), a state-owned company. In 1991, it was acquired by private investors, and given its current name.
As of September 2018, the company has about 250 stores across Poland and employs almost 3,500 people.
