Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The charity Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) has announced that it is to close its Pears Centre for Specialist Learning amid concerns over safeguarding. Reports suggest that the total job loss will number between 180 and 200. The residential school, based in Coventry, had been the subject of a critical regulatory report by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) earlier in 2018 and had also been the subject of a Charity Commission enquiry. The school is due to close its doors on 7 November 2018.
