Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Legal firm Fieldfisher has announced that it is to create 125 jobs as it opens new offices in Belfast. The jobs will be in legal and business support services, and it is understood that 10 of the jobs are already in place, though the date by which all the jobs will be filled has not been reported. The jobs are being supported by a GBP 630,000 (€701,000) grant from invest NI. A spokesperson for the development agency commented that it was hoped that these jobs would help to retain graduates from the universities who would have otherwise had to leave Northern Ireland to find suitable employment opportunities.
