Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Finnish logistics company Tuko Logistics Cooperative is initiating employer-employee negotiations due to economic reasons. The negotiations concern all employees and may lead to up to 170 job reductions.
Tuko Logistics stated in a press release that the company has lost all its major clients and that, under the current circumstances, it will have to wind up operations and close its site in Kerava, Finland. The company’s annual turnover has decreased from €740 million in 2016 to less than €300 million in 2017.
Tuko Logistics had some 300 employees in 2016.
Two years ago, the company cut 215 jobs in the same region.
