LafargeHolcim, the world's largest cement manufacturer, has announced to close its head offices in Paris (France) and Zurich (Switzerland), eliminating 204 positions, in the framework of a new reduction cost plan. The aim is to simplify the company’s structure and improve performance.
The group will move its operations in Zurich to its site in Holderbank, in Switzerland, where LafargeHolcim’s predecessor company Holcim opened its first cement plant in 1912. Other functions will be shifted to a new corporate office in the Swiss town of Zug known for its favourable tax legislation. 107 jobs will be cut in Zurich and Holderbank, and 97 in Paris. The group also announced in March the closure of the offices in Singapore and Miami with no details about the number of job cuts.
