Description
The BBC has announced that it will launch a new channel for Scotland which will result in the creation of 140 new jobs. Eighty of the jobs will be for broadcast journalists and the remaining 60 jobs will be for technology specialists. The latter jobs will be added over a period of about three years. There is no specific information as to when the journalism jobs will be filled, though it is expected that this would happen in advance of the channels launch, which is scheduled for February 2019.
Last year, the group announced the creation of 200 new jobs at its media centre in Salford.
