Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Belgian company Melexis is investing €75 million in expanding its facility in Sofia which will cover 15,000 sq. m., doubling its existing 7,500 sq. m. The plans include expanding the team with 100 new hires by the end of 2018, and a total of 300 new hires by 2022. The new building is expected to be fully operational within two years, and around €17 million will be invested still by the end of this year. Melexis laid the first stone of its new building in Sofia’s quarter Gorublyane on Wednesday 4 July.
As of July 2018, Melexis Bulgaria, which was established in 2000, employs more than 475 people.

In September 2021 the company will launch its new facility in Sofia and will create 160 new jobs by the end of 2022, adding to its current team of 500 people.
