Description
The national post provider company, PostNL will expand its activities and set up a new package sorting- and distribution centre in the area of Venlo (south Netherlands), which will lead to the creation of 450 jobs in the region. The company has indicated these jobs are targeted at individuals who have poor job prospects. As of July 2018, PostNL employs 650 such workers. Overall, PostNL employs over 5,000 people in the Netherlands.
The increasing demand for package delivery as a result of e-commerce has led the company to expand its operations. Package delivery increased by 17% from 2016 to 2017, with peaks at Christmas time, as well as other new seasonal peaks.
The new facilities are expected to be finished mid-October 2018 and work will start soon afterwards.
