Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Danish owned dairy group Arla has announced plans to cut 154 jobs from its operations across the UK. The Llandyrnog Creamery in Denbighshire, North Wales, will close with the loss of 97 jobs, while packaging operations in Malpas, Cheshire and Lockerbie, Dumfries and Galloway will close, resulting in the loss of an additional 57 jobs. Packaging will continue at the site in Oswestry, Shropshire. The plans, which are still subject to consultation, will see the creamery close by the end of 2018 following a phased redundancy plan. It is not known when the packaging sites are due to close.
