Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Kabel-Technik-Polska, a subsidiary of electric solutions provider PKC Group, has announced that it will close down a production facility in Białogard and cut 210 jobs. The source reports that 185 positions will be cut through a collective dismissal programme, and the redundant workers will receive a severance pay; other 25 employees will also lost their jobs as their contracts will expire in June 2018. The programme will be implemented between 19 June and 31 July 2018. The company revealed that the loss of the large contract is behind their decision. Kabel-Technik-Polska specializes in the production of wiring systems; the company has two production facilities located in Czaplinek and Białogard.
