Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Compagnie des Fromages et Richesmonts announced the closure, by May 2019, of its production site in Coutances, which employs 86 people on permanent contracts and 15 temporary workers. Management has announced to the employee representatives the closure of the site within one year. It justifies this decision by a decline in sales: the cheese production has decreased by 4 to 5% over the last 4 years and has been declining for more than 10 years. Proposals for reemployment could be made to employees at the other sites of the group in Normandie as Vire (Calvados), Ducey or Pacé (Orne).
