Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO or ADMIE) announced on 20 December 2017 a programme of voluntary redundancies for 100 employees. The aim of this programme was to reduce the number of employed staff near retirement. Every participant in the programme can receive a €35,000 bonus. On 9th February 2018, the deadline for participating in the programme, 143 persons had replied positively. Company management is considering accepting all requests.
