Description

Oil Company Total has announced plans to cut 250 jobs from its workforce in Aberdeen. The decision to cut jobs follows the takeover of French firm Maersk Oil, and the company's decision to review staffing after the acquisition. Currently around 1,500 staff work from the Aberdeen site and it is being reported that the affected jobs are all shore-based. The process of consulting affected employees has already started. Total has said the consultation process will examine possibilities for redeployment of affected staff.

Update: 07/05/2018: On 7th May Total announced that more than 300 of its workers in Aberdeen will be made redundant.
