Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
DPS Group, which owns 43 of the 200 stores of the Italian electronics retailer Trony, announced the beginning of a layoff procedure for 466 workers employed in 35 of its department stores. The announcement was made during a meeting with the trade unions at the Ministry of Economic Development on 5 April 2018, in the frame of the company's brankruptcy procedure started on 16 March. Since then, the workers have been suspended from duty without compensation due to the closure of the stores.
