Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Book publisher Parragon has announced plans to close, following a number of years of difficult trading conditions. The business, which has its UK headquarters in Bath, confirmed that 140 jobs are subject to the statutory 45 day consultation period, which will begin on 7 March. In addition to the job losses in the UK, further losses are expected to take place in the overseas parts of the business taking the total number of employees affected to 245. The business continues to seek a buyer, though if no buyer emerges, then closure plans will take effect.
