Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The air navigation management organisation of Spain ENAIRE has announced the hiring of 134 air traffic controllers during 2018. The draft of the General Public Administration Budgets approved on March 27 includes this employment expansion. These new hirings and the 236 in the last two years (106 in 2016 and 130 in 2017) rises the total number of new air traffic controllers of ENAIRE to 370, representing an increase of 21% over the current operating staff of 1,745 controllers at the end of 2017. ENAIRE argue this employment expansion is due to the increase in the number of passengers (250 million people in 2017) and flights (two million last year).
