Italian internet company Italiaonline, formerly Seat Pagine Gialle, announced 400 dismissals linked to an internal reorganisation plan and the closure of its Turin branch, which currently employs 489 workers. Some 241 of these workers have been asked to move to the Milan branch, where 30 redundancies are foreseen, while the other 248 will be dismissed.
The CEO of the company, however, has ensured that Italiaonline will not end its activities in Italy and has announced the creation of 100 new jobs in highly specialised digital professions (currently not present inside the company) in its Milan branch.
The final approval of the restructuring plan should take place on 15 March in the company's board of directors. Trade unions have started mobilisation against the announced dismissals and called for an 8-hour strike following the meeting with the company at the Milan employer association Assolombarda.
