Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The plant of Industeel France at Le Creusot (Saône-et-Loire) has announced to recruit 120 temporary workers to deal with an important order of a customer, the German group EEW. They have to provide 50,000 tons of clad sheets for EEW. Therefore it will reinforce its team with 120 temporary workers that will be employed until November 2019. Industeel is a subsidiary of the steel manufacturer ArcelorMittal. It employs 2,300 people in France, and about 800 in Le Creusot. A reorganisation that had led to 180 job cuts was recorded in the ERM database in 2003.
