Description
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania is to dismiss at least 56 employees in Vilnius by mid-2018. The main cause of the dismissals is internal restructuring of the institution. The ministry has already started consultations with the trade union representatives aimed at discussing the measures to mitigate the consequences of the dismissals, including the measures to retrain or re-employ the employees to be dismissed. Currently the ministry employs 345 employees.
The Ministry of Agriculture is the state-budget institution of the Republic of Lithuania which formulates public policy, as well as organises, coordinates and controls the implementation of the policy in the areas of agri-food industry, fisheries, rural development, land-use planning and others.
