Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Lithuanian Labour Exchange intends to dismiss at least 143 employees in different Lithuanian regions by 1 October, 2018. The main cause of the dismissals is internal restructuring of the institution. It is foreseen that 10 territorial labour exchanges that are currently operating in different Lithuanian regions will be merged with the main office, and the Lithuanian Labour Exchange will be reorganised into the Employment Office as of 1 October, 2018. Currently 1,433 employees are employed at the Lithuanian Labour Exchange.
Lithuanian Labour Exchange was established under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour and it implements state employment guarantees on labour market. It provides assistance for job seekers in finding a job, involves registered job seekers into population employment programs, pays unemployment benefits, etc.
