Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Giesecke Devrient Mobile Security Slovakia, a subsidiary of a German firm Giesecke & Devrient is about to close its factory in Nitra. Redundancies take effect in April 2018 and will concern 370 employees. The company manufactures identity cards, payment cards, passports and SIM cards. The production will be finished in September 2018 and the company plans to end its activities in Slovakia by February 2019. The closure is related to the development of card production market worldwide which has forced the company to adjust to the increased level of competition.
