Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
For the first time since 9 years, the airline Air France has announced to recruit about 200 to 250 pilots per year from 2018 to 2022. Air France must hire massively to cope with the return of growth and departures in retirement.'We are going to recruit about 250 pilots a year by 2022', explains Air France's Air Operations Assistant General Manager, responsible for some 3,400 Air France pilots. Of these 250 pilots, a hundred will come from the 'cadet' channel (a recruitment channel opened for 100 candidates without any aerospace background that will receive a 24 months training), the others are pilots already trained from other companies as well as pilots from the air force. Several important job reductions were recorded since 2010: 4,000 job cuts in 2010; 5,122 in 2012; 1,826 in 2013; 800 in April 2015 and 1,000 in October 2015.
