Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The agribusiness company Sodebo has launched an operation in the region Hauts-de-France (North of France) to recruit maintenance technicians and line drivers who would like to settle in its production sites located in the south of Nantes, in the department of Vendée (West of France). Sodebo, one of the leaders in the fresh catering and snacking market, employs 2,150 people in France and plans to recruit several hundred people per year in the coming years. According to the regional newspaper Le Courrier Picard, Sodebo expects to double its workforce in the next five years, which means that it will recruit, on average, about 430 employees per year.
The company is looking for qualified staff that it is difficult to find in the area of Nantes, which is close to full employment, as the unemployment reached 7.2% in the department of Vendée in the second quarter of 2017 (– 0.7 point of percentage on one year).
