Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Swedish furniture and household goods retailer IKEA has opened a new distribution centre in Jarosty near Piotrków Trybunalski, Poland, where 100 new jobs will be create within the next few months. The centre, with a space of 22,500 m2, will be operated by an external service provider, FM Logistic, which IKEA has been cooperating with since 2001. It will deal with Internet orders, with the annual volume of orders to reach 100,000 within the first year of its operations. The new logistics investment will improve the quality of deliveries and order completion time.
The distribution centre in Jarosty has been operating since 2001; currently, it employs about 400 people.
