Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Finnish footwear manufacturer Sievin Jalkine will hire an estimated 100 new employees in 2018 due to increasing demand and production. The growth is due especially to a commission in 2017 by the Swedish army for 212,000 pairs of boots. The production and delivery of this order will continue until 2022. The turnover of Sievin Jalkine increased by 20% in 2017 and the company hired around 70 new employees. The company aims at 7-8% annual growth in upcoming years.
As of January 2018, Sievin Jalkine employs approximately 400 people at its production site in Sievi.
