Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Siemens, the technology company will create 200 engineering jobs in the UK as part of a one-year programme to refurbish some of the trains of South Western Railway (SWR). The GBP 50 million (€ 45 million) programme will start in December in Eastleigh. The announcement comes a few weeks after the news that Kiepe Electric UK will create 40 similar new jobs in Eastleigh to upgrade another part of South Western Railway’s fleet.
The representative of the planning and transport committee at Hampshire Chamber of Commerce said 'SWR’s announcement is another excellent show of faith in Eastleigh’s railway heritage and current centre of excellent workspace, staff and skills.'
