Description
Rail manufacturing company Alstom has announced that it is to close its site in Preston with the loss of 180 jobs. The company, which manufactures the Pendolino train, has had a site in the city for 120 years. The decision comes after the company decided to build a new centre for manufacturing, maintenance and training in Widnes. Work will now be carried out at the new site, and it is expected that the Preston site will be closed by July 2018.
