European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
As announced on 23 October 2017, the British telecommunications provider British Telecom – Germany (BT - Germany), plans to cut one in every seven jobs in Germany, which amounts to approximately 130 of a total of 850 jobs. Two thirds of affected jobs will be relocated to Hungary – the rest will cease to exist. This process is necessary to save €10 million annually and to absorb the balance scandal of its parent company BT Group in Italy in January 2017.
The time frame for the job reductions have not yet been announced, nor the location(s) in which the job cuts are most likely to be concentrated. BT Germany's largest offices are settled in Munich and Eschborn near Frankruft, each with approximately 300 employees. Negotiations with the works council have started.
