Description
ITM-LAI The logistics subsidiary of the supermarket network Intermarché (Groupement Les Mousquetaires) has announced a new social plan that could result in more than a hundred redundancies in its logistics services, according to the union CGT.
ITM LAI has announced to its central works' council a reorganisation that will affect 265 people on permanent employment contract, according to CGT. The management had not reacted to this statement of the CGT. According to the union, 'many employees will be fired because very few proposals for reclassification are considered'. Of the 265 positions impacted, 'a half' could be subject to forced dismissals, told the CGT.
This restructuring aims to centralise ITM LAI logistics' centres from the current 33 to 5 on national level. The reorganisation should be implemented in March. The plan to transform ITM LAI logistics platforms was launched in 2012 and resulted in the cut of several hundred jobs. ITM-LAI's workforce on permanent employment contract has decreased from 11,700 in 2003 to 7,000 today.
