Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
American home appliances producer Whirlpool has announced that it will create more jobs at its shared services centre in Łódź than it initially declared in March 2017. Currently, the company plans to create in total 300 positions what implies that additional 100 employees will be hired. The centre will provide back office services in 20 languages to company’s units operating in EMEA region. Whirlpool has decided to consolidate all financial operations and relocate them from its units in Dehli (India), Dublin (Ireland) and Fabriano (Italy) to Łódź. Whirlpool has been operating in Łódź for 18 years; currently, the company employs about 3,000 people in the city.
