Belgium-based American luggage manufacturer and retailer Samsonite is opening its second assembly plant in Hungary, in Szekszárd, creating around 100 jobs.
The state-of-the-art 20,000 square meter facility is entirely managed by software and hot water will be produced with solar energy. Samsonite's investment is supported by a HUF 889 million (EUR 2.85 million) state grant, with a further HUF 2.5 billion (EUR 8 million) set aside for the industrial park and another HUF 3 billion (EUR 9.6 million) for the connecting road system. In addition, with an investment of HUF 2 billion (EUR 6.4 million) Samsonite will also open a training centre for the employees.
