Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As announced on 15 September 2017, the German security provider Kötter Aviation Security will create 150 jobs at Düsseldorf Airport within the next 6 months. Due to a high number of passengers, the average waiting time at the security check has increased to as much as 30 minutes per person. To decrease waiting times, Kötter is temporarily supported by personnel from the federal police force. As further growth of passenger inflows is expected at Düsseldorf Airport, Kötter has started recruiting staff. The screening and training of new recruits can take up to 6 months.
Currently, Kötter employs 850 members of staff at Düsseldorf Airport.
