Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Norwegian aluminium company Sapa has announced plans to re-open a factory in South Wales which will create 130 new jobs. The site in Bedwas previously ceased activities in 2014. The re-opening is supported by a grant of 550,000 GBP from the Welsh Government in addition to Sapa's own investment of 9.6 million GBP. The re-opening of the site has been made possible by the decision to introduce low emission taxis in London; Sapa will manufacture the taxis' lightweight bodywork. Production is set to begin towards the end of 2017 and increase steadily over a five year period.
