Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Continental Automotive Czech Republic, automotive parts producer, has opened a new warehouse in Brandys nad Labem near Prague where it will create 200 new job positions. The site, which currently employs over 2,900 people, offers employment in production, warehouse, but also other technical, engineering and administrative posts. The personnel director said that finding qualified employees is a problem. The company is looking for workers by using billboards in cities and highways, leaflets, advertisements on the Internet, even on social networks. 'We have recruitment days in individual cities, we really do not want to miss out on any opportunity,' she added.
The company recruits new employees despite continued automation of production. The expansion of the warehouse space is a response to the increased demand for products among global carmakers. This year, the company expects a year-on-year revenue increase of 40 percent. The company employs more than 13,000 employees in the Czech Republic, making it one of the largest employers in the country.
