Description
RTL Belgium has decided to implement a transformation plan called '#Evolve'. This is intended to respond to the changing media environment with the growth of social media and to strengthen the 30-year-old commercial television channel RTL-TVI against emerging sources of competition for revenues. The channel is the most important commercial TV station in the French-speaking part of Belgium. Recently, French TF1 entered the Belgian market for TV advertising by introducing specific advertisement blocs aimed at the Belgian French-speaking audience.
At an extraordinary works council of 14 September 2017 RTL announced the plans. Based on Belgian restructuring law (the so-called law Renault-Vilvoorde) a phase of negotiations and talks with the trade unions has started in order to discuss the restructuring plan.
