Supermarket Asda has announced plans to cut 300 jobs in administrative roles. The job cuts will affect the headquarters in Leeds and another site in Leicester, although it is being reported that the vast majority of the cuts will come from the site in Leeds. The move follows the retailers decision to restructure jobs in its stores. Affected employees have been informed, in line with the statutory requirements around consultation. In addition to the planned cuts, it is also being reported that Asda will be looking at changing job descriptions for a further 800 positions.
