Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Logistics company Hermes has opened a new hub in Rugby, Warwickshire, in a move which will result in the creation of 100 new jobs. The hub will deal with packages on behalf of retailers and has the capacity to process over one million parcels each day. The new hub has significantly increased Hermes' capacity and its infrastructure. The warehouse will also use new artificial intelligence technology to process orders. The new centre was officially opened by Olympian Sir Chris Hoy in August 2017 and is now operational. There is no detail as to when the new jobs will be filled.
