Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Windmill producer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has announced a large reduction of its labour force at the wing factory in Aalborg. Of the 2,100 workers employed at the factory, 600 workers will be dismissed, while another 130 will be relocated to other job functions at the factory. This means that in total, 730 workers will be affected by the measures. According to the management, the restructuring has been made necessary by changing market conditions. The redundancies are reported to take effect on 30 September 2017.
