Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Food manufacturer Quorn has announced plans to create 300 new jobs as demand for its products continues to rise as customers seek to reduce meat consumption. The meat substitute producer will invest GBP 150 million (€167 million) to double production at its main site in Billingham, Teesside. The jobs will be added over a five year period and will bring the worldwide headcount to approximately 950 workers. A spokesperson for the company commented that it expected that business would continue to grow whatever the outcome of forthcoming negotiations on Brexit.
