Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 17 July 2017, the provider of five pumped-storage power plants Schluchseewerk announced it will cut 50 out of 356 jobs in Germany.
The energy company is struggling as a result of the difficult market situation in the energy sector in Germany. Schluchseewerk wants to implement job cuts through partial retirement and aims to avoid compulsory redundancies. The job reductions affect all sites of the company, which are located at Häusern, Witznau, Waldshut, Bad Säckingen, Wehr and Kühmoos.
Schluchseewerk is a subsidiary of the energy providers EnBw and RWE.
