Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The group Star's Service, specialised in last kilometre logistics, has announced the recruitment of 500 new employees in 2017 to cope with the growth of the new market from the retail and the health sector. The group is seeking delivery drivers, wharf workers, order pickers and support staff for the headquarters. Star's Service now employs 3,200 people, nearly 90% of whom are permanent employees. All the 500 employees to be recruited will be hired on permanent employment contract. Since 1998, the company has created its own in-house training centre (Forsedis) and, since 2011, its own university to increase its employees' qualifications.
