Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
US owned software development company Bazaarvoice has announced plans to create 170 new jobs in Belfast. The company runs the reviews and ratings sections for a number of major internet shopping sites. Support for the new office and the jobs has come from the development agency Invest NI and the Department of Economy in the form of GBP 1.3 million (€1.5 million) in grants. The new jobs will be added over a three year period and will mainly be in the roles of software engineering, support and quality assurance. The average salary for the positions is reported be GBP 32,000 (€36,300).
