Description
Aberdeen Council has announced plans to cut 150 jobs, with further cuts expected to follow. The cuts follow a real-terms reduction in funding from the Scottish Government of GBP 13 million (€14.7 million). The council, which is now a Labour-Conservative coalition, is seeking to achieve the cuts through voluntary redundancy and has confirmed that it has accepted 150 applications. In order to balance the books the council is seeking to reduce its budget by GBP 21 million (€23.8 million), so further cuts are expected. It is not known when the job losses will take effect.
